Hi Everybody,

Where did the summer go? I know I was gigging a lot these past three months
because now my feet hurt even more than usual!!!!
I started playing this summer with the Kilo band. We had a gig at the
Central in June. They are a very talented original band, including Denise- sax,
piano, guitar, and vocals, Travis – lead guitar, and George on drums. Hopefully
we will be recording some tunes this month. Kilo has also been hosting the
Sunday jams at Legends in West Seattle with me.
I’m still playing gigs with Tim Turner www.timturnerband.com, and Glen from
Blue 55 - http://www.blue55.com/.
I went to LA in June for the Beyonce all girl band audition. There I
hung out with web master Lee. We wrote a cool song, soon to be on My Space.
Also in June a couple of my art pieces were juried into the Edmonds art festival.
For July, even more gigs, and still in need of foot rubs.
August brought me even more gigs, and yes, feet that are now amputated.
My art was also shown in the Magnolia art festival. My son, Michael, received
2nd place for his drawing at the art show. Michael also went with his Uncle
John and family for a two-week rafting trip down the Grand Canyon. Michael
continues to shine on the violin, and he is working on completing his Eagle
Scout requirements, and he is on the Varsity tennis team.
We filmed the Frog video, and Dex is busy editing it. Hopefully done by October.
Lee is currently helping me build an art web site – www.lauriemillerart.com.
I have an art show the entire month on September at the Bishop Harvey Gallery.
Artist reception Thursday 6-8pm September 7th
. The Bishop Harvey
gallery is located at 524 Main St. in Edmonds, WA

I had a great band back me in LA, Russell Chan – guitar, Chuck Manning –
sax, Sal Marquez – Backing vocals, and Jon Stuart – drums. It was a fun
night, with my friends Tony & Rick from West LA music there, and Jon Flanagan –
responsible for making the night a Party! Thanks Jon!
I’ve lately been playing gigs with Glen from Blue 55 -
http://www.blue55.com/
Glen plays a mean slide guitar.
Went with Darren to Jimi Hendrix mom’s memorial this month too -
http://www.jimihendrixfoundation.com The Hendrix foundation displayed a beautiful
new marker for Lucille Hendrix.
My son is helping me finally get up and running on My Space –
www.myspace.com/lauriemillerband add me as a friend.

Okay, I swear, I swear, sounds like an all boy band song, but I swear,
the CD is almost done and ready for the big release, final artwork, posters, CD
release party and all.
I see it. I visualize it. It shall manifest soon – I SWEAR!!!!!
NAMM photos, Knitting Factory photos, Photos from recent gigs shall be
added to the site, with hopefully some new writing, art work, new links, etc.
Also, the endorsements page will get started, as well as my songs added etc.
Soon I promise, or you can have my first-born.

Happy Birthday all my Aquarius and Pisces friends. Love you all! I’m
turning blue from holding my breathe.

October - December 2005

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year one and all! It will be the Chinese year
of the Dog in 2006, bow-wow. My life is still way too busy, hopefully it will
change soon, but in the mean time I’m still playing gigs 3 – 5 times a week
with the Tim Turner band, teaching piano and bass, and trying to finish my
projects, plus being a single mom. With the Tim Turner band we are still having a
great time and recording new songs at Chris V’s recording studio. Check out
the Tim Turner web site for future gigs at www.timturnerband.com. On Nov.
27th, Jimi Hendrix’s birthday, the Tim Turner band opened up for Randy Hansen
and Leon Hendrix at the Nectar Lounge in Seattle. It was a fun gig. Then in
Dec., when some of my favorite people were born, we celebrated both Randy
Hansen’s and Tim Turner’s birthdays playing at Legends. I even got to play bass
with Randy Hansen, www.RandyHansen.com. Randy is an awesome guitar player, and
of course Rick Spano is the best on drums. I have a live recording of the
night, if anyone is interested. I hope to put some mp3 clips of some of the songs on the site.

In November, Darren and I went to the TAXI music conference in LA. It
was held in Hollywood this year. I met up with some familiar faces, Andrew and
Lizabeth, Thorn, Mathew, and Tony, plus we made some new friends at the Viper
room – Mike and Donna, and we met Wynn Free who wrote the book, The
Reincarnation of Edgar Cayce? There are some interesting concepts in the book;
I’m about half way done.
I’m still finishing the last song to add to the CD before having the CD
release party; hopefully it will happen before Hell freezes over. You can still
order the CD Tall Tales minus the one song at CD baby by clicking on the icon
on my Home page.
Big news for my website, I have successfully changed my URL (web address)
from Athena eZ to Laurie Miller, or www.lauriemillerband.com. Lee is
currently making all the adjustments. We shall also soon be updating the
endorsements, adding mp3s, photos, bio, etc. Also, there is a new site I’ve been added
to www.bassgirls.com. Check it out; there are lots of rocking bass chicks there.

Hopefully I’ll be at the NAMM 2006, and my New Years resolutions
are… to release my CD, finish my new recording, finish writing my books,
orchestrate some songs, write some new songs, read more books, practice more bass and
singing, paint, make more time to be creative, dream, etc. etc.
Best wishes,
Love, Laurie

August - September 2005

My heart goes out to all of the Katrina hurricane victims.
How tragic to lose so much so fast, and the needlessly lives lost in addition. I pray
that the lives of the survivors are restored to a more normal and peaceful
existence as quickly as the destruction occurred. I plan on donating a part of
my CD sales to the Red Cross. I’m also busy finishing some
paintings and songs in response to my feelings concerning the Katrina tragedy.
Last month, August, was a busy bee month. I’m still playing bass with
the Tim Turner band, and we had many fun and musically great gigs. For future
gigs check out the schedule at www.timturnerband.com. With the help of Chris
V., we are finishing the latest recordings. I can’t wait to hear how they will
turn out. Hopefully, I’ll finish recording the latest songs this month, or
the next, so that I can add them to the CD, and finally have the wild and
crazy CD release party. Also last month I played bass for the Below Average Band,
starring “The Fish”, Jeff Aaron, radio DJ at 1380 am. He is on Mon. – Fri. from 3-6pm.
Catch his show.… www.thefishonradio.com/fotos.htm Become a fishhead!
We opened at the Tulalip casino amphitheatre for Tommy Tutone and The Knack.
It was a blast! Sally & I even sang back up vocals and danced for Tommy
Tutone’s set in our custom fashion designed T-shirts, manipulated
by Eric Roberts and Theron. View the pictures at:

We will be playing the 25th Anniversary Seattle Peace concert on Sept
25th, our slot is at 3pm, and the infamous Randy Hansen will be going on at 4pm.
www.RandyHansen.com.
It will be held at the Woodland Park zoo location and starts at noon.
www.seapeace.org/events.html Eddie DeGenaro will be back playing with me, he has
been a traveling the globe lately. www.eddegenaro.com Also, Doug McGrew

Eddie and I also plan on recording with Sal Marquez

Lee and I are still in the process of updating the web site. I’ll soon
have a new URL www.lauriemillerband.com ,and Lee has made some nice changes
already. We soon will have the endorsement page, the tribute pages, new photos,
and new mp3 clips.
Peace to all!

March, April, May, June, July 2005

Wow, four months went by and I didn’t post any ‘News’.
So much has happened, including playing the ‘Take Back the Night’
(an International organization for Crimes against women)
festival at the University of Santa Barbara, CA in April.
I was backed by marvelous musicians….
on Trumpet – Sal Marquez (played with Woody Herman, Buddy Rich, Frank Zappa, Jay Leno show, and much more),
Drums-Joel Taylor (Yanni, Allan Holdsworth, and numerous others),
and Guitar-Paul Pesco (Hall & Oates, J. Lo’s musical director, and much much more).
It was a great gig, and I thank the University of Santa Barbara, Sal , Joel, and Paul.

In May I traveled to Matzalan, Mexico. Hablas espanol?
I can now say a couple of new dirty words in Spanish.
I loved Mexico. It was incredibly beautiful, and I loved all the people I met.
They were so multi-talented and spiritual, like Tony and Serge.
We hung at Los Banditos, a club owned by the Musiclord amp founder, Glen
He has his own band down there, where he sings lead vocals.
He did a great job singing Doors, V.H., Satrianni, and more. I hope to be back for 2006 Spring Break
Lately, I’ve been teaching music during the day and gigging with a couple of bands at night.
The main band I am playing with is the Tim Turner band, www.timturnerband.com .
He used to be in the band ‘Child’. The band includes Tim Turner-guitar vocals,
Chris V.-rhythm guitar vocals, Rick Spano (Randy Hansen’s drummer and more), and yours truly on bass.
I realized that I don’t think I linked to two compilations that I was on last year for domestic violence.
I was on "the Goddess Within", which was the work of Dianna Paige at http://www.Artistsforchange.bz, and Northwest Artists Against Domestic Violence CD,"The War in Our Backyard". Which was the work of Jian Lakerson nwaadv@earthlink.net.
My song, ‘U Really Chose’, was included on both compilations, and I’m under the band name of Athena eZ.

Breaking News... This is kind of a Prince P. Diddy thing; I am changing my band name to Laurie Miller.
Could possibly be Laurie Miller and the Fathers in the future?
Lee is currently overhauling the web site, and has already created new buttons
Thanks Lee. I promise by the end of August I’ll have new pictures up, and the memorials,
and the new CD cover and mp3 clips, plus a little more. Thanks for your patience.
With the CD, Laurie Miller – Tall Tales, I’ve produced a couple of short runs,
200 CDs, and with the help of Tim Turner have sold most of them in a short period of time.
I hope to soon have the updated CD on itunes, and CD Baby. If only I had a minute to breathe.
I’m also working on a radio campaign to start soon, etc.
I’m still waiting to have my CD release party, as I am going to ad one more song to my CD.
I’ll keep you posted. Finally, I will be playing a Seattle Peace Concert Sept. 25th
with Eddie DeGenaro and other guest’s t.b.a. http://www.seapeace.org.

If I forgot anything, or anybody, I apologize.
I hope everyone is having a great summer, and I hope to write my ‘News’ in a timelier manner next time.

Love, Laurie

February 2005

Hi Everyone,
I hope everybody is doing great!
The NAMM gig, backing Eddie DeGenaro, with featured guest artist Sal Marquez went great.
It was a great experience to meet and hear such talent that night, such as Nick, Ron Thail (Bumblefoot),
Trip, and many others. I played on a Glockenklang bass amp and really enjoyed the sound.
Later I hung out with Rick from West LA Music, Reinhold of 360synergy.com, and the great guys from Modulus'
Anderson and Ryan. Modulus is the bass to play! The next day Lee and I checked out the NAMM show
while Lee promoted his cool tube necklaces. We met and took pictures of the necklaces
with Lee's inspiration Bob Moog. Later we hung out with Jimi James and the guys from Body Count .

The next night was another incredible experience playing at The Knitting Factory
Industry Showcase through Sheena Metal! http://groups.yahoo.com/group/musichighway
It was musically a blast with Papa D (Don Littleton) playing "the box", Mac Funk on guitar,
and special guest Sal Marquez, who played some great solos on trumpet. Steve Smith, Nicole,
and Sal's good friend Robbie Krieger (Door's guitar player) came to support. Blessings to all .
Like I said in January, the music is complete, had to remix one song, but done and mastered now.
Now I just need to complete the artwork and foundations (still researching which ones concerning
breast cancer, Beth died of, and high blood pressure, which Tony died of.)
Any suggestions of foundations concerning these causes are welcome.

Dex will be starting a video for the "Just a Frog" song this month.
Terry Love www.terrylove.com/tv/ taped us live on Sunday March13th at R Place Tavern,
a new club in the North end of Seattle area owned by my friend Eddie, Tom, Rey, and Judy.
Terry Love also has a show called the Terry Love show on Public access TV.
I'll keep everyone posted once the video is edited and aired.
This band is absolutely happening with a kind of String Cheese element to it.
We will also be playing with Eddie and Fritz in March and April at R Place Tavern.
Lee and I are working on finishing the endorsement page this month
and the new cover of the CD with the new Mp3s up.
Also we hope to link sites to Tony and Beth&Mac226;s memorials.

Best wishes, and blessings to you all.

Love, Laurie

January 2005

Hi Everybody,

Good news, the CD (Tall Tales) is finally done and mastered.
Yeah! Thanks to all that helped, especially the
service of Julie on Engineering and Co-producing.

I'll be setting up a CD release party sometime in March or April
when I get back from LA. I'll be backing Eddie DeGenaro
(who also plays on the CD - Tall Tales), at the Vigier guitar clinic
at the NAMM show in Anaheim, CA.

I still need to get all the fund raisers in order for donations for
areas dealing with the deaths of Beth, Tony, and my mother, also
for the Tsunami relief, and then the final CD will be printed.
I will have digital distribution up within a week or so.
Lee and I will post a link with new mp3s on the site within a couple of weeks.

I hope the new year is going okay for all.
Well, I've got to pack for my trip - I think I have about an hour till I leave.

Love,
Athena

Sept. / Oct. / Nov. / December 2004

Happy Holidays and a better New Year to all!
I know its been awhile since I've written again, but I've still had
adjustments to make due to the recent deaths in my life.
Good news, the CD is done!!! YEAH!!!!
I can breathe again. I can have a life.
I can start working on a new CD – what!!!
Okay, maybe a little break first. The CD is going to be called ‘Tall
Tales’. The CD just needs mastering done, and I’ll send it off to be printed.
Posters, with the great photos by Frank Deras will be printed too. I’ll have
other goodies ready, like T-shirts, bumper stickers, tattoos, and stickers. I
will be playing opening shows, and I shall play a small west coast tour in the
summer of 2005. We will be hitting the airwaves, digital downloading, and print
for promo reviews, etc. If anyone has any other ideas – just e-mail me
Bassnlegs@aol.com.
In respect to the deaths of two of the musicians on the CD – Beth Lamera,
and Tony Blanks, we will be donating a portion of the CD sales to a Breast
Cancer organization for Beth, and a high blood pressure organization for Tony.
Lee and I are looking into these, but again if anyone has any good suggestions,
please e-mail me.
I apologize for the porno left in the guest book, but the entries just
wont stop. Lee and I are going to change guest book services to see if that
will help resolve the undesirable posts.
I’ll be playing at the NAMM show in Anaheim with Eddie, Fritz, Sal and
others. Eddie and Fritz did a great job playing with me at the NW artist
against Domestic Violence show in Nov. at Doc Maynards. Thanks to everyone who
showed up. We've created a new show combining he songs with fusion jamming.
(Kind of like ‘String Cheese Incident’).
The TAXI Road rally was fun as always. Seeing Lee, Johnny and Michele,
Rick and Tony, Andrew, Brett, Sal, and meeting many new musician friends.
I hope the New Year brings peace and blessing to all.

Love,
Athena

May - August 2004

I'm finally writing again. I've had an incredible amount of things to take
care of due to my mother's untimely death. So, that's my excuse for not
writing sooner, and I'm sticking to it.
Did everyone see me win the gold medal on the balance beam individual?
Oh, okay, but I sure enjoy watching the Olympics. These athletes are awesome!!!!
Lee is updating the site. Yeah! We soon shall have new photos posted,
it has been a few years, and if I get my act together, new links and the new CD
cover, MP3s, and a little new information. Lee has also been working on tributes for
Tony, Beth and my mother. They soon shall be linked up to the site.
I feel like a true Washingtonian, and I've shape shifted into a SNAIL.
Yes, the CD will be finished this year. If not, I'll sell my first born, and
whoever else I can find. I'm counting on having an awe-experience
CD release party/showcase in October. I'm not holding my breath.
I've been playing bass for about 10 different bands these past few months.
Also teaching some bass and guitar, and trying to finish writing my best seller.
If I've forgotten anything important, it is because I had a lobotomy last month
and I'm feeling the side effects.

Love,
Athena

February / March / April 2004

A lot has happened since February. First and foremost is the passing of my mother on April 1st.
This is very difficult for me to write about. My mother was a true supporter of art,
artists, and their dreams. Without dreams, is life worth living?
My mother helped me raise my son, since I’ve been a single mother,
and freed my time so I could focus on creating music, art, and writing.
She also helped contribute financially to my first CD – Missing Children – ‘Wants & Needs’.
Thank you mom for all of your love, and may you keep everyone in heaven busy.
I shall envision my deceased father and mother’s spirits reuniting in heaven in happiness.
Due to my obvious delay, I still need to finish my CD at Julie’s studio,
now hopefully by May. Lets keep our fingers crossed.
Losing both Tony and my mother in the same way within a year has been extremely stressful.
Musically I’m finishing the CD, backing other artist on bass, and starting a new jam night.
I also have been playing duets with my son, Michael on violin and I’ve been playing piano again.
Also, the song, ‘You Really Chose’, from the Fornicated Infinity CD was added to two
compilations this past month. One CD – ‘Northwest Artist Against Domestic Violence’,
and the other CD, ‘The Goddess Within’. More information when they are printed.
I’ve also been accepted for distribution from a couple of new companies,
along with getting set up for digital distribution.
As for my watercolors, I have new sale prices, and if anyone is interested -contact me.
I need to raise funds to finish my CD, and the extra cost of living due to my mother’s death.
Lee & I are still working on the tribute pages to Beth and Tony, and updating the photos and information.
May God bless you all this spring and always, and never forget this is as good as it gets.

Love, Athena

Janury 2004

News - January 2004

Gung Hay Fat Choy -
Happy Chinese (and a few other countries) New Year!
It is the Year of the Monkey. I hope all of you Monkeys
will find lots of bananas to eat.
Athena eZ started out the year playing four gigs in a row,
weathering the 10 degree and snowy wheather.
I just got back from the NAMM winter show in Anaheim.
Many great products were there. Some of my favorites being Modulus basses,
Glockenglank amps, Logic headphones, etc.
George Clinton was roaming around on bail,
and also to be seen was Stevie Wonder,
Darrly Jones, and numerous other famous musicians.
I sat and played at the Brigg in Venice. Carlos was kind enough
to lend me his bass, and I jammed with such great players as
Joel Taylor (Allan Holdsworth) on drums, Joel is awesome,
Sal Marquez - a legend - on trumpet, Kenny on keys,
and David Ralicke (Beck) trumpet player.
Mac Funk came by to hang with us too.
I also saw some of my good friends, like Brett in LA, who
has a new CD coming out from the band 'Where's Brett'.
Also great to see Rick W., Michael Dees, Johnny, Brian Y., Jeff Kathan, Dave, etc.
I then flew to the Bay Area where I sat in with the Larry James band
at the Fifth Admendment in Oakland. Larry and I have the same birthday,
April 26th, and he took me to my first jams and taught me
some Motown - 'My Girl' etc. Nobody sings the song 'When a Man
Loves a Woman' better than Larry. His singing, guitar, and stage show
is outstanding. Frank video taped it. Larry has a new CD out,
and I'll find out how you can obtain it. Larry has played and recorded with
Johnny Ottis (who wrote 'Hand Jive').
Being in Oakland brought back such memories, the earthquack,
my first band, getting married, falling in love, having a baby, etc, etc, etc.
I played in my first band from CCAC with Kevin and Paul.
I had lived by Lake Merrit and the two apartments on either side of me
were occupied by Money B and DJ Fuze of Digital Underground.
Tupac used to hang out, he was in Digital Underground at the time.
Okay, enough enough, back to the present, or last week.
I stayed in Napa with Frank - a famous photographer. We shot the
new CD cover using a Modulus bass. I can't wait to get the proofs and
finish the CD and posters - I'm so excited. Alright already. Make me puke.
I also sang a couple of background vocals for my friend Pablo in Oakland,
too bad we were stuck in traffic and didn't have more time.
Pablo's band Neurotic Delusions sounds great!
Athena ez will be playing at the 1896 for Jam night this Thursday,
and in Feb. will be a the the Bule Yonder & the Timberline. We haven't
played there since Tony's death.
Lee & I are still updating the photos, and Lee is busy working on a
flash design for the tribute Tony & Beth pages.
Love to all,
Athena

November / December 2003

Here is the 'News':

Happy Holidays

Well, I almost missed two months of 'News'.
The TAXI Road Rally in Los Angeles was a lot of fun. I hung out with
Johnny D. from Roland along with Rick, Tony, and the rest of the guys
from West LA music. I also got to see my New York friends, Johnny & Michelle.
Meeting a fellow artist Pablo from Berkeley, and seeing Andrew again.
Photos will be added soon!
Hanging with Sal was the best as always, and his trumpet playing sounded better than ever.
Happy B-day Sal!
Scott & I are booking gigs for the New Year, and we are excited to play.
We still have been hosting the Thursday night jam at the 1896,
and as long as the club stays open we will continue to jam.
The tribute pages for Beth & Tony have finally been started, and Lee & I
hope to have basic pages up in Jan. 2004.
I will also be adding links, radio, photos, and new mp3s to the site.
As well as updating the front home page.
In the past two months, I was added to two great sites which support female music
, www.collectedsounds.com, and my link there is:
www.collectedsounds.com/spotlight.lauriemiller.html
The other site is: www.bestfemalemusicians.com, and my link is:
www.bestfemalemusicians.com/athenaez.html.
The 'Just a Frog' song will be played at the Aquasox's
(the Seattle Mariners minor league team) 2004 season, yeah!
Their mascot is a frog.
'Just a Frog', and my version of Hendrix's 'Fire' were played on WRFL 88.1 FM
at the University of Kentucky campus this fall.
Also, 'Getting it Right' from my Missing Children CD was played on the
www.upperroomwithjoekelly.com,
and Loser Magnet was played at www.radiocrystalblue.com
The new release will be printed by Feb. 2004,
and I'll be having a CD release party & a West coast tour.
I'm excited for an all out radio campaign.
I'll be going to the NAMM show in Jan., and I'll stop by the Bay Area
(my home sweet home) for my cover photo shoot.
Best wishes for the New Year to all!

Love, Athena

September / October 2003

Hi Folks,

Well, September & October have totally whizzed by
like a witch on a V8 turbo charged broom.
I played a lot of bass in September for Garr Lange,
including his CD release party at the Firehouse in September.
We've also are still hosting the jam at the 1896 in Start Up
with Scott Rosburg from Striker on guitar & vocals, and Mike Braun
from Hall & Oates on drums. It is always a lot of jamming fun.
In October we've started a new funky project with the
temporary name of King Cockroaches attached for now. Mark is on drums,
yours truly on bass, Sean on guitar, and Brian on vocals. It sounds awesome
so far, a Chili Peppers/Fungo Mungo/Primus kind of thing. My favorite!
The artwork for the new release of Fornicated Infinity is finally done,
and it will be printed in November when I get back from LA. I'm going to
the TAXI Road Rally, and will play a showcase at Rustys for JPF on Sunday.
Lee & I are working on the tribute pages for Tony & Beth. They are very
much in our thoughts. Hopefully by December we will have some roughs done.

Peace & Love,
Athena

Poem - 'The Fire Within'

Crashing into a building took a second or two
The destruction of our Nation's Twin Towers was completed
in under an hour or so
The after shocks created
a more lasting effect
It may take a decade or two to
remedy it
The fear of flying
The loss of lives
The economical back lash
all are lasting effects
Our Nation pulled together
as best as it was able
People in New York and Washington DC
were the most affected
Firefighters, volunteers, wives, children,
husbands, brother & sisters all
United to search for lost souls
Rebuilding from ashes has
already started
I'm proud of the strength of the
people of our Nation
We united together to protect our most precious asset
FREEDOM
The freedom of choice is what
I love most about America

July/August 2003

July and August just flew by,
and I didn't even have a chance to update the 'News'.
I still miss Tony and Beth, and Lee and I are still working
on making pages for them. We will have a link on Beth's page
to a Breast cancer site, since that was her initial illness leading to her death.
As for Tony, I will look into linking his page to treating High blood pressure.
I have Tony's tribute DVD/video tape done, and four of his own songs.
I'm still working on Beth's tribute tape. Lee will upload part of these tapes
to their pages. I did complete a CD of songs that Beth is playing on with Carol & I.
Part of the Soul Kin experience. It is mostly an acoustic CD, but it sounds great.
You can e-mail me about getting one until we have it added to the store.
I finished recording the new Fornicated Infinity CD, and I'm just
finishing the art work, and then presto Frank, my new manager,
and I shall be hitting the market and airwaves.
I played a great spontaneous gig at the Ballard Firehouse in August with
Rick Spano, and Eddie DeGenaro on guitar. Musically and audience wise it rocked.
I took an inspiring nonfiction writing class this summer, where I wrote
an article about Tony's aneurysm. It is supposed to be included in volume 2 of
'Gigs from Hell.' My life has been one big gig from hell.
Like this past July when I backed a singer that looked like Olive Oil,
and had to play her sleeper (boring) songs, at a music
in the park show in Olympia. I had to car pool with the pianist in 90 degree
weather two hours in rush hour traffic. His truck stank, no air conditioning, and he
kept rolling up the windows. At the gig the drummer kept speeding up, and
his Mormon wife was seriously rude to me. Best of luck to ya!
I'll never do that again!!!!
Okay, back to being positive, I'll be backing some great artists like
Garr Lange, whom I already played one gig with in August, in September.
His new CD sounds awesome, and he will be having a CD release party
on September 13th at the Ballard Firehouse.
I'll also be booking some gigs for Athena eZ again. I sure do miss Tony,
however I played some gigs with Scott Rosburg of Striker in August and really
enjoyed it. Striker had been signed to Arista records and they sold some 100,000 albums.
Scott has a killer voice.
I'm sure I forgot lots, but I'm still sweating.
Love to all,
Athena

June 2003

Monday, June 23 Last Minute Update:

Laurie Miller & Soul Kin, a side project of
Athena eZ will be on the Terry Love show tonight -
Monday, June 23rd at 12:30 AM
on Channel 77 or 29 in King County

visit the website http://www.terrylove.com/tv

June 'News'

Carol, the percussionist for Soul Kin, and I attended two funerals on May
24th. First, that of Tony Blanks, where I read the eulogy, and then the funeral
for Beth Lamera where Carol read a eulogy. What a trying day for both of us, and everyone involved.
Both Tony and Beth had played in the band Laurie Miller and Soul Kin. Carol
commented that we are a killer band, okay bad joke. Anyway, Terry Love
video taped a tribute for Tony and Beth at the beginning of June,

and it will be aired on channel 77 in King County - to be announced.
Tom Austin filled in on the stand up bass with Carol and I.
I've completed a tribute video/Dvd with Tony's song 'A Real Thing' which
will be added to the Tony Blanks tribute page. There will also be a tribute page for Beth Lamera too.
I'm also still in the process of making CDs of Tony's and Beth's music.
The sell of Tony's CDs will go to donations made to help his mother.
I've also been busy editing the Athena eZ band video, and my bass demo video.
I'm videoed out.
Laurie Miller and Soul Kin will play at the Liberty Deli on Alki beach
this weekend, joined by her son Michael on Violin. It will be his debut gig.
Athena eZ still host the jam night at the 1896 in Start Up,
and will soon be booking more gigs for the future with a new line up of players.
Lee has been working on the art gallery at the web site, check it out,
and we hope to update pictures, tribute pages, music, and videos soon.
May Tony and Beth rest in peace.
Love, Athena

Beth's Eulogy

Beth Lamera died at 9:36pm on May 23rd, 2003. Beth has been Tanya's
Mother, my dear friend, and a teacher and inspiration to many. She's been my
teacher, too. Teaching me the most precious lessons of learning to trust my
spirit and listen to my heart. I'll be forever grateful for her fortitude.
Beth also taught me the value of honoring my feminine and receptive self.
In caring for her selves, she modeled for me how to take
time out away fromthe pressures of the day to day world.
And then there is Beth's magnificent gift of fostering, encouraging, and
cultivating creativity. She encouraged and reassured others until they found my
way through to expressing the music in their heart. What a wonderful gift to receive.
Playing music with Beth was a joy that many people got to share. In my
work with adults with developmental disabilities, Beth, using her viola, would
lead our music sessions, giving strength and inspiration and much needed
structure to our activities. We always had great fun together. Because of her
respect for creativity, we always felt that the music we made and the fun we had was significant.
The rest of the time, we were laughing and dancing and having fun together.
And just generally enjoying life, ourselves and one another.
Together we studied Astrology, tarot, Mother Goddess, and loved our Mother
Earth. Beth believed that all of nature contains vibrations; hence her interest
in minerals and stones and their use in healing. Beth lived much of her life
with pain and torment and was driven to heal herself. It was this desire to
heal that brought us together and bound us together through it all.

Tony's Eulogy

Tony was a kind and gentle soul who served others consistently and constantly.
Tony epitomized the meaning of the word FRIEND. He was loyal and true, and
always had an ear to listen to anything one might have to talk about.
Tony was a quiet man who took his time getting to know people and deciding
who to trust. Tony was also a true gentleman -- a rare treat in this world.
Most of all, Tony loved music! Music of all types. He was very open
minded and always enjoyed expanding his horizons. Tony enjoyed creating and
writing new songs, and he had written quite a few. He expressed to me his
joy in being able to share his songs with an audience. He also always loved
learning new songs, and had quite a memory for remembering them all.
He was the king of hosting jam nights. Always able to back a musician with
whatever song they might want to play, kind and courteous, helping them set up,
and letting others play his guitar. He was supportive of his fellow musicians,
and he did not waste his time in idle gossip. He loved setting up and tearing down the
equipment for the gigs. He had his system, and usually would not except any
help. Tony expressed to me this past year that his dreams had come true
musically, by being able to sing and play his originals, singing and playing
songs he enjoyed, participating in a fusion band, and getting a chance to play
his violin and stand up bass. Tony had also been a father to his two sons
and adopted daughter, who are now grown. He had lived a life of service,
helping take care of his father, brother-in-law, and mother.
Tony was a man of class, very intelligent, and always enjoying a laugh.
Tony was an angel here on earth, one who will be sorely missed, but now I
shall think of him as an angel in heaven sharing his music with other heavenly beings.

As long as we continue to share our memories of Tony
with each other Tony shall remain alive here on earth.
May Tony's soul rest in peace.

News update:

Tony Blanks the guitar player for Athena eZ
for the past couple years, and the guitar player
that Laurie has played with for the past six or more
years collapsed at the gig Thursday night with
cranial bleeding on the brain. He is currently in a coma
in critical condition at Harbor View ICU Unit in Seattle.
May prayers be sent for his recovery.

Happy Belated Easter!
It's actually my birthday this month. I'm a Tauras.
Happy B-dayto all my fellow Taureans.
I actually feel a little depleted this month with the war, threats
of terrorism and SARS floating around our world. My prayers go out to
everyone involved for health, safety, and peace. I'm also exhausted from recording
and mixing four new songs along with a new video this past month.
Julie, the engineer -- studio owner, at Jacob's ladder has great ears,
and has been wonderful to work with. If anyone needs to record -- check her out.
Just e-mail me, and I'll pass her information to you.
I'm off to New York, flying out Saturday night on my birthday, to shop
the new music at an Industry party. Yeah, yeah!
Lee has been working to update the site, and the art gallery will soon be
finished to visit. I hope to add clips of the new songs and video, to update
the photos (finally), and to update some information. Thanks Lee.
Since I've been traveling and recording I haven't had time to book very many
gigs this past month or two. We're still hosting our jams on Thursdays at
the 1896 in Start Up, and I played my first gig in two years with Nude
Guitars (the fusion band i.e. Steve Vai, Mike Stern, etc.) We had fun.
I did watch my favorite movie tonight - Moulin Rouge This movie always
brings me to tears, and I love the way the director Baz Luhrmann
incorporates theatrical elements in his film scenes. Right on Baz.
Also, the way Ewan McGregor sings 'My Song'
- Elton John is absolutely beautiful.
Okay, enough of the movie critic.
Love to all,
Athena

March 2003

I survived my trip to New York. Actually, it was a wonderful experience. A lovely couple
Gary & Jen let me stay at there extra room in the Upper West side of Manhattan.
The Global conference was "interesting," at least hanging at the bar and
meeting people like Keith was. Keith is an up and coming film director. Went and
jammed with Johnny from Bloodroot, and hung with Dean and Shannon in Staten
Island. Hung with Mr. Enis one night in Hell's Kitchen, and sang karaoke in Chinatown with an
up and coming comic Sherri. Jammed at Hogs with some blues cats, and jammed and
played a somewhat showcase with Jim from The Red Planet in the burbs on New York.
I also hung with Myron at a cool hip hop club. All and all, it was the spontaneous
type of adventure I love. Maybe Lou Reed will hire me as his bass player so
I won't have to leave. Lately I've played a couple of acoustic gigs with Carol and Tony.
We had a lot of fun, and they came across great. The other Carol - singer also played
with us one night. I've been busy in Julie's studio, Jacob's Ladder in Machias, recording
some new tunes. They are sounding great with the help of Raul, Alfredo, Eddie, Tony, Percy,
and who ever else if I forgot anyone. I'm really excited, they sound better than any
other recordings I've ever done. As soon as they are done and pressed in a few weeks I'll be
pursuing a video and tour for us. Athena eZ is no longer hosting jam nights on Wednesdays, but we still
are hosting jam nights on Thursdays at the 1896 in Start Up. The jams are going well.
Weekends we are playing other clubs, and now that I'm back home I'll be booking more gigs.

Love to all,
Athena

February 2003

Happy Valentine's Day to all. XXOO!
May gentle love find every one of you always.
Here are a couple of quotes from Iyanla Vanzant's book, 'Until Today' ....
"I will know love when I realize....
I can love people even when
I believe they are not nice!"
"I will know love when I realize.....there are times
when I allow fear to stand between me and those I love."

We will be recording a few new songs next week. I just hope I get over
his darn bronchitis that I've had since LA, so that I can sing. I will also be performing
an acoustic gig this month, which I haven't done in a while. I'll be accompanied
by Tony - bass, and Carol - percussion at the Liberty Deli on Alki beach in West Seattle
on Saturday, Feb. 22nd at 8pm. Come one and all.
Again, I hope I get my voice back.
More gargling with salt water required.
Carol, the singer, really helped us out this first week of Feb. since I had
no voice, thanks. Cindy's birthday went well, as she chocolate pudding
wrestled three girls that night. I hope she can walk.
Brad is currently working on writing some new tunes, rock on!
We've just booked new gigs, just posted, with more to come,
and working to book some festivals and a small tour for this summer.
I'm off to New York at the end of this month for the Global Media Summit.
I haven't been to New York for a while, should be quite an adventure.
I'll have my meet the artist night at the gallery sometime in March,
since Feb. will be here and gone, before I can blink.
Check out all the new web pages Lee has been working on.
We still host jam nights with Guitar Center sponsoring them at Stewarts
in Snohomish on Wednesdays (8pm-midnight),
and the 1896 in Start Up on Thursdays
from (9pm-1am). Come rock with us.
May the world stay at peace.
Love,
Athena

News
January 2003

Hi Everybody, Well, I'm still alive even though I missed the
month of December for my Athena eZ News. With the help of web guru, Lee,
I've finally changed my URL which I've been trying to do for a year now, and
Lee has created a Flash demo of my watercolors and a button will soon be added
to the 'Home' page with Gallery on it. We will also add a Links page and a Radio station page.
I have also been inspired to add a Poetry link button too because I was just
published in four different publications last year with my poetry, and a new friend
of mine had it listed on his site. As soon as I achieve compatibility with
my older scanner and G4 I will also be able to update my photo gallery. I
still want to eliminate some photos in my current gallery, and add the new
band photos, audience photos, and people I've played with photos.
Belated Happy New Year to all! My friend Cindy and I went to Las Vegas
to ring in the New Year! Through drummer Mike B. who plays with Hall & Oates we were able
to enjoy their talent. What a voice and stage presence Darryl Hall still has.
Fortunately my friend Sal is feeling better. I saw him in Los Angeles
last week when we attended the NAMM show. Eddie got us some passes through
THD - Thanks, Eddie. Johnny DeMarco my friend at the Roland booth had his Les Paul stolen.
I have a picture of it he sent me, that I'll send to my mailing list, and if anybody
is interested can check with me on. He would really like to get it back.
I did meet Bootsy Coolins at NAMM, he was just way too cool.
Athena eZ continues to be added to Internet radio playlists,
and will be played soon on some College Radio stations, and some local radio stations.
Athena eZ also became a performing member if Indiegrrl this month and an elite member of Go Girls.
The magazine, 'The Bar Scene' gave Athena eZ's CD Fornicated Infinity a
great review saying, "this sucker rocks", and saying that the sound was like
Pink meets Stone Temple Pilots, meets Run DMC
We continue to host jam nights every Wed. and Stewarts in Snohomish,
where Mike B. Hall & Oates drummer has come and Jammed the past two
Wednesdays, and every Thursday jam nights at the 1896 in Start Up.
We just had a great gig at the Raging River in Fall City this past Friday,
and will be playing at the 1896 on Feb. 7th Friday. We are currently booking
more gigs for the future, planning a small tour for this summer, and will
be recording a few songs in Feb. Much peace and success to all in the New Year,

Love, Athena

Happy Birthday Jimi Hendrix!!!
Jimi would be 60 years old today, but I'm sure he
still would rock.  Some of my favorite musicians in the world
are/were Sagittarius: Jaco Pastorious, Jimi Hendrix,
Jim Morrison, Frank Zappa, and Sal.  It's too band that so many
of them had to die so young, but their spirits still live on forever in their music.
I went to the TAXI Road rally this past month.  Basically, the philosophy
that I absorbed from the rally was, "do whatever works for you." Duh!!!!!
It was fun jamming at the Rolland booth with Johnny and Mac Funk though.
Also hanging with Sal, who plays and hangs with some of the best
musicians in the world was worth it.
Athena eZ's jams both Wednesdays at Stewarts, and Thursdays at the 1896
are still doing well.  Musically we've been sounding better and better,
and always adding new songs. We also played a new club last week, the Timberline, that went well.
On a personal note, Athena received an Editor's choice award for her
poetry last month, and copies of the books that her poems were published in this
past year.  Athena is also still setting up for her 2002 gallery showing
of her art work at a new gallery in the Seattle area.
Happy Thanksgiving to all.  We still have a gig at the Blue Yonder this
Saturday, and we will be adding more clubs soon.

Athena eZ is still being played on both www.WebRadioPugetSound.com
and www.creativeradiocentral.com
The song 'U Really Chose' is being played on Web Radio Puget Sound,
and 'Boring' is still being played at Creative Radio Central.
Also, Colin the DJ is going to add 'Envision' from the Missing Children/Wants
& Needs,
and possible the song 'Take My Hand'.
Here is a quote from DJ Colin: "Hi Laurie, I'm building the Dec show this
weekend and am listening to "Envision." I have to say it's probably the best
tune I've heard in a long time. Can I put it on the Show?"

Thank you all for listening.

Love,
Athena

I played this week Oct. 20th on the
www.webradiopugetsound.com
Music Magazine show online.

News
October 2002
I would like to start the October 'News' with a quote from
Eleanor Roosevelt, "life has got to be lived, that's all
there is to it."
Halloween of course is going up, and my sing Taurus is supposed to be
a vampire. Maybe a sexy nurse, or a school girl vampire will do. We are going
to play a gig at the 1896 in Start Up for Halloween.  We now have a new
jam night on Thursdays at the 1896 in Start Up which we started this month
of October.
Had a great gig this past weekend at the Silver Beach Pub.  It was a
benefit
to raise money to pay for surgery costs for a former bartender from there.
Meeting with Marty the web guy next month, so we can up date the site,
and add
those lovely photos of all the audience members as well as new pictures of
Athena
and the band.
Slides of Athena's artwork came out great.  She sent them off to have
a photo CD made, so we will add a page of her art work soon to the site.
Next month we will be playing at a new club 'The Timberline.' Athena will
also
be attending the TAXI Road rally in LA.  Hope to see you there.
Rock on, and don't let the snipers get you.

        Love, Athena

News

The show is supposed to be up on Wed. of this week.
That would make it for Oct. 2nd.
The DJ called and said he would use the songs 'Boring',
and 'Loser Magnet'.  I'm pretty sure you just hit the
Listen to Creative Radio button, and download the music there.

September 2002

Flying back to Seattle from the Bay Area on 9/11/02 was
a very introspective experience, especially when I was sitting in the airport at 9am
and American Airline had a moment of silence and spoke a few words of tribute
to the almost 3,000 people who had died a year ago on this day.  Very moving indeed.
It does not seem like a yeah has gone by, it seems like this attack on
America happened yesterday.  I hope and pray that America will remain strong
and always provide for people everywhere the freedom of democracy.
We held a tribute at our jam night at Stewarts the night of 9/11.  I'd
like to thank all of the jammers and audience members who participated, especially Carol for
the table and candle, Mike Martin for the beautiful candle tribute of 50 candles out front where
he spelled USA with the candles, and James for playing a moving rendition of Star Spangle Banner.
Athena eZ's Fornicated Infinity CD shall soon be played on two radio stations,
www.creativeradiocentral.com, and KSER located in Lynnwood, WA.
We shall be adding more stations and receiving more reviews soon.
Just a reminder that the interview on the site www.kissmyheart.com
is still in the Sounds part of the site under Archives.
Laurie is currently busy working on demoing up new music for her
third CD, putting together her video, creating a web site for her artwork, and finishing her poetry book.
Peace, love and happiness to all. Hope to see you at our gigs.
Love,

August 2002

Hello everybody, it's been awhile.
The first week of August I was in LA visiting my friend Andrew,
and we had some great musical experiences.  Such as,
meeting and watching the Fizzie's play at the Viper Room,
and then partying with them afterwards, and a voice lesson
from one of LA's greatest voice teachers, Roger Burnley,
seeing my friend Brett's band Twisted Roots open for
The Voice of Great White, jamming at the Cat club
with the Stray Cat's drummer, hanging with Sal,
and on a nonmusical note getting a new hair cut and color.
The Wednesday jams are still going great.  We had a
packed house the second Wednesday in August, it was difficult getting all the
jammers up.
Unfortunately, Mr. C had a heart attack this month. Laurie plays
bass in his band.  We wish him health and a full recovery.
Last, Athena eZ had a fun gig at the Silver Beach Pub,
it was packed and they provided great free food for all.

    Peace, love, and happiness,

July 2002

Wow, half a year has already transpired! My son and I thoroughly enjoyed a Seattle Mariners baseball game to celebrate Independence Day this year. Fortunately they won, and we had great seats right behind Ichiro. I ate sushi in his honor. The sun continues to shine, even up here in rainy Washington, and so far
no more acts of terrorism have occurred against the United States. As for the band, the jam nights every Wednesdays at Stewarts in Snohomish continue to flourish. We took some packages to new clubs a week ago, and hope to get some new gigs going soon. We had guest singer, Carol sit in
and sing some Heart and Fleetwood Mac songs. She has a beautiful voice.
Athena has a busy month ahead with a trip to Reno planned with her
son, recordings, and a trip to LA. Wear your sun screen!

June 2002

"June is busting out all over."
Okay, enough songs from musicals,
even though they are my favorite.
The Athena eZ band has an exciting month ahead:
We are still hosting the Wednesday jam night at Stewarts
in Snohomish from 8pm-midnight. The nights has been going great with
more and more people showing up. It is a fun night of music. We are
fortunate
enough to have the drummer, Rick Spano playing with us.
As far as gigs: we are playing a gig this Friday, June 14th
at the Blue Yonder in Silver Lake with a Thong contest being hosted by us.
Athena will also be playing an original acoustic set at the Irish Emigrant
in the University district on June 18th (note: it might be billed either
as Athena eZ or Laurie Mil
